The help prevent your fish from getting sick, feed them properly and do not overcrowd the tank. Monitor temperature levels. Do your partial water replacements consistently. In some cases, however, in spite of your best efforts, diseases find their way into an fish tank. Below are some typical aquarium fish illnesses and the signs that your fish might be suffering from them:
Ich, short for Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, is the most common fish tank parasite. Signs of ich (pronounced "ick") are: raised white spots, rapid breathing, rubbing against ornaments, or darting about the tank. There are medications and other treatments available for ich.
Other parasites include chilodonella, with symptoms similar to ich, and oodinium, also known as rust, gold, or velvet dust disease, which causes an strangely tinted dusting on the fish's body. There are also fish lice, anchor worms, flukes, and nematodes. Various signs and symptoms include irregular swimming, loss of shade, extreme mucous, trouble breathing, and bloating or wasting.
After parasites, the most usual illnesses are bacterial infections, such as fin and tail rot. Symptoms of the bacterial disease are white film, cloudy eyes, ragged fins, and open sores. Bacterial infections are challenging to treat since prescription antibiotics can interfere with the aquarium and filter.
Fungal infections are much less regular and usually take the form of cotton-like growths.
Viral infections occur in goldfish and koi but are less common in other aquarium fish.
If you see or suspect any of these issues in your fish, it's a good idea to speak with an expert regarding diagnosis and treatment. Pictures and videos can be helpful in communicating the signs and symptoms you're seeing.

We have visited Creature Comforts several times in the past 6 weeks bc we adopted a puppy from the local humane society and needed to get several items for our new puppy and our adult dog. The employees are very helpful and answered our questions. This is a wonderful place to buy dog/cat products.
Wonderful place that has the special dog food I need. A+
Dogs are allowed inside on a leash, but beware, there are cats roaming around. My dog has been socialized around cats but he's always ready to stick his nose in their face and say hello, which they don't always appreciate since he's bigger. The cats were cool, but me and my boy were surprised to come upon them lol
Overall, staff was friendly, they have fair and reasonable prices for a pet supply store, and the variety and quality of items offered was good.
I just moved to the area, and am used to going to PetSmart with my dog as an outing for him, so this is the perfect replacement for that. It's the one store I take my non-service dog into so it's cool there's a place like that here 😊❤️🐕 I'll be back for sure!
The is one of the most pleasant places to get any thing for my animals... love the staff here and the management is always so helpful. Love the rewards program. thanks creature comfort
